YORK – Windstream, a provider of advanced network communications and technology solutions, today announced it is upgrading its network to deliver ultra-fast 1-Gigabit internet service in York.
The upgrade, which represents an investment of about $1 million, involves building fiber optic connections to about 3,400 households in York. Windstream is currently finalizing the engineering design work and anticipates construction will begin during the second quarter of 2018 with completion expected later in the year.
“We’re extremely proud to bring Kinetic Gig internet service to York,” said Brad Hedrick, president of operations for Windstream in Nebraska. “Our customers tell us they want faster speeds, and we’ve been investing in our network to meet that demand. This latest expansion will offer Windstream customers in York faster downloads and more reliable service for streaming video and supporting multiple devices simultaneously.”
With 1-Gig internet service, residential customers can access music, TV shows and HD movies in just seconds. Small businesses can make large file transfers, process numerous transactions and backup to the cloud at blazing-fast speeds.
Windstream’s Kinetic Gig service also is available in Lincoln and Hastings.
