Crete Public Library hosts ground breaking ceremony, celebrates $50,000 donation from Windstream

CRETE, Neb. – Today members of the community and dignitaries held a ground-breaking ceremony at the site for the future home of the new Crete Library. Windstream (NASDAQ:WIN), a leading provider of advanced network communications, announced a $50,000 donation to the Friends of the Crete Public Library to establish the Crete Public Library Windstream Technology Center.

“More and more, libraries are embracing technology and helping patrons with theirtechnology needs,” said Mayor Foster. “The Windstream Technology Center in Crete’s new library will be at the forefront of providing technological assistance for the Crete Community. We are grateful for the support Windstream has shown in this endeavor and to the whole Crete community as well.”

Brad Hedrick, Windstream area president, presented the library with a check for the Windstream Technology Center to Mayor Foster. The new technology center will be equipped with the latest technology and high-speed Internet.

“Windstream has been proud to serve Nebraska for more than 100 years and will continue to look for opportunities to better serve our communities, like Crete,” Hedrick said. “The new technology center will give area residents a wider variety of technology, than ever before.”

The expanded facility will allow the library to increase its materials by more than 10 percent and increase occupancy and programs by 200 percent. In addition, the library will be creating new spaces that will be available to the public. This includes a children’s program room, teen room, café, adult reading area with a fireplace, community room with a catering kitchen and expansive green space.
