“I’m excited to announce this significant milestone in the continuing enhancement of our network,” said Jarrod (J) Berkshire, president of operations in Georgia for Windstream. “We are committed to making faster, more reliable internet speeds available to our customers, and today’s announcement reflects one part of a comprehensive initiative that has been underway for several years. We will continue to enhance our service offerings throughout North Georgia.”
"Infrastructure investment in technology in the 21st century could be just as important as the creation of the interstate highway system was in the 1950s,” Gooch said. “I appreciate our local internet provider, Windstream, for making such a significant investment in Lumpkin County and the surrounding North Georgia counties. With speeds competitive with those of a metropolitan region, we can be more aggressive in our economic development efforts in retaining and recruiting industries to our communities."
