Frequently Asked Questions
I already qualify for Lifeline. Can I participate in this Emergency Broadband Benefit credits?
Yes. Emergency Broadband credits can be used simultaneously with Lifeline credits on your Kinetic by Windstream account. However, both credits cannot be used for the same thing (i.e. internet or phone). Since this credit is for internet service only, we recommend you use your Lifeline credit for phone, so that you can use this Emergency Broadband credit for your internet service.
What if I am currently behind on my internet service bill?
No problem. You cannot be disqualified from receiving these Emergency Broadband Benefit credits because of past or present overdue balances.
If I receive these Emergency Broadband Benefit credits, is there a charge if I have to cancel or disconnect my internet service?
No. You cannot be charged an early termination fee if you need to disconnect or cancel internet service.
What is "covered" under the $50 credit?
The up to $50 credit will be applied to your monthly internet service, as well as your monthly modem equipment fee.
Do Tribal lands qualify for the same discounts?
Tribal lands qualify for an up to $75 credit per month.
Can existing Kinetic by Windstream customers participate in this program?
Yes. If an existing Kinetic customer qualifies for the Emergency Broadband Benefit, the credits can be applied to your monthly bill. Follow the steps provided above to apply.
What is the connected device discount?
Kinetic by Windstream can provide eligible customers a tablet valued at $120 for only $20. If qualified, customers will receive a one-time $100 credit on their bill towards this connected device.
I submitted my EBB enrollment information to Kinetic by Windstream. What happens now?
Once your information has been successfully submitted, there are still a few important steps we need to take on our end to verify and process your enrollment. While we are currently experiencing very high demand, please rest assured that we are working as quickly as possible to do so. We will contact you to let you know:
- Once everything is confirmed – You will receive an email stating that your enrollment has been approved, the EBB credit has been applied to your Kinetic account and you should see it on your next bill
- Or, if there are any issues – We will email you so we can work through it together
We understand how critical this is and we thank you for your trust and patience with this important matter.
The FCC’s Emergency Broadband Benefit program is a government program that reduces an eligible household’s broadband internet service bill. Discounts are temporary credits limited to one per household and vary based on customer location and qualifying service. An application ID from the National Verifier must be provided to Kinetic by Windstream to receive a discount. To be eligible, customers must meet one of the following criteria, as established by the FCC: qualify for the Lifeline program; receive benefits under the free and reduced-price school meal program; received a Federal Pell Grant during the current award year; experienced substantial loss of income since February 29, 2020 or if your household had a total income below $99,000 for single filers and $198,000 for joint filers during the year of 2020. Kinetic by Windstream is not responsible for program qualification decisions and cannot make any guarantees of eligibility, qualification for a certain credit amount or length of time the credit will be available to be applied to your monthly bill. Credits may be applied toward monthly internet services, modem equipment fees, and a connected device, such as a laptop, computer, or tablet, only and customers will be responsible for payment of any one-time or monthly charges not covered by the credits. If participating in the connected device discount, the tablet provided by Kinetic by Windstream is nonrefundable and nonreturnable. Kinetic by Windstream will honor Emergency Broadband Benefit credits until funds are exhausted or for up to six (6) months after the Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary declares the end of the COVID-19 Health emergency, whichever occurs first. Emergency Broadband Benefit credits may be used with a provider of your choosing, such as for Kinetic by Windstream, and may be moved to another provider at any time. Once credits are no longer available, you will be subject to Kinetic by Windstream’s then-current rates and terms and conditions.
